P. E. POLICIES
Due to the physical nature of the activities presented and practiced in elementary Physical Education, each class setting demands attention to detail with regards to safety, both in teacher planning and student movement. In order to guarantee the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual safety of all students in my Physical Education classes, I maintain very high expectations with regards to student behavior.
The daily rules call for each student to:
~ Students bring a clean pair of tennis shoes to school at the beginning of the year.
~ The shoes are kept in the classroom for the remainder of the year.
~ The classroom teacher has the children change shoes before coming to P. E.
~ Shoes will be checked for correct fit before winter break.
~ A "Shoe Reminder" (English/Spanish) note will be sent home with your child when:
* shoes do not fit correctly or
* are not worn for any other reason.
* When this occurs, another pair of shoes should be sent to school as soon as possible.
tuck in shirt;
top button only is open.
Even though the above Physical Education policies are explained to each class at the beginning of the year and are reinforced daily, bad choices do occur. The consequences for misbehavior are as follows:

- Help keep the P. E. areas neat.
- Play safely.
- Stay off of the stage.
- Stay away from lunch tables and other items stored in the gym.
- Refrain from jumping and touching basketball nets, hoops, and backboards.
- Stop activity when Mrs. Serra gives the signal.
- Walk to the door at the end of class, girls lining up on the blue line and the boys on the red one.

tuck in shirt;
top button only is open.
- Stand in line quietly until the classroom teacher arrives.
Even though the above Physical Education policies are explained to each class at the beginning of the year and are reinforced daily, bad choices do occur. The consequences for misbehavior are as follows:
- "Strike One" or first offense: verbal warning
- "Strike Two" or second offense: sit in the time out area for 5 minutes and mark in class binder
- "Strike Three" or third offense: complete a "Physical Education Think Sheet" which is sent home at the end of the day and mark in class binder
- Serious offense: immediate removal from the P. E. area and mark in class binder.
